Benjamin Franklin formed our country’s first lending library in 1731. Since then, generation after generation of individuals who value education have made generous gifts to their public library. This is where you and the Library Foundation come in. Together, we can sustain and enrich our public libraries and leave a legacy for future readers.

Other ways to give
Planned Giving
Remembering the Library Foundation in your planned giving decisions, such as wills and living trusts helps the library make a lasting impression on the community. One small sentence in your will, trust or insurance policy can make a difference in the lives of many, many people throughout the community. Consider stock sales, donor advised funds or charitable rollovers. Consultation with your lawyer or financial advisor is strongly recommended: Standard language that you can provide to your preferred advisor is shown below. Sample Bequest Language
Endowment donations: an endowment gift to the Foundation provides literacy services and programming that benefit the greater St. Louis community. When you make an endowment gift, you help the Foundation with immediate and long term literacy needs and programs. Endowment donations are invested. A portion of the funds are used for annual needs with the balance being reinvested. See your financial advisor for advice.
Donor Advised funds: A donor advised fund is a like a charitable savings account; it gives the donor the flexibility to recommend how much and how often money is granted to the Foundation.

Corporate Sponsorships
Your corporate partnership or sponsorship not only benefits your business but also the library and the community. Corporate funds provide support for programs from bestselling author events to the telescope lending program plus a myriad of programs in between. Corporate and Foundation sponsors receive invites to annual donor breakfasts and lunches, private receptions, meet and greets with bestselling authors, recognition in library publications, at events, on social media platforms and naming rights. The Foundation has a wide range of programs available that match your business interests and focus.
